FIRST EDITION THUS 4to. hardback in modern half calf with marbled boards and gilt rules. Five raised bands to spine with two red labels, gilt. 268pp., with a double-page map of Kent in 1086. Pencil name to top of title page and annotations and underlinings to text and map. Two old newspaper cuttings (dated 1813 and 1823) affixed to rear pastedown as well as an Ex. Library bookplate. Occasional light foxing, heavier to map, prelims and foredge. Rusty pin affixed to p.47 which also has slight loss to top edge. Small scratch to spine else a VERY GOOD, BRIGHT COPY.
