FIRST EDITION 2 Volumes, Complete. 4to. (approx. 265 x 205cm) hardbacks in full contemporary tan calf with raised bands, titles labels, gilt, to spines. All edged mottled red. Volume I: [24], xxvi, [4] 360pp. with engraved portrait frontispiece and 1 plate with 2 figs. Volume II: [2] pp.363-748, [32], illustrated with 8 fold-out diagrams. Elegant ink signature and date (1751) to ffep of Volume II and a couple of small ink letter to both ffeps. Volume I has occasional small ink spots. Prelims to both volumes lightly tanned and with a few traces of old worming. Corners of boards rather worn with slight loss of calf. Boards lightly soiled and scuffed. Overall a VERY GOOD, HANDSOME SET.
