FIRST EDITION ['Volume I' to engraved pictorial title page but only one volume ever published] 8vo. hardback in half contemporary dark green morocco with 2 black title labels, gilt, and gilt rules to spine, with marbled boards. iv, 192pp. plus 1 page Directions to the Binder (with pencil ticks and annotations). Profusely illustrated with 45 engraved plates, engraved pictorial title page, folding Map of the County and folding Plan of Canterbury (all as called for). Elegant ink signature to blank facing Preface. Occasional light foxing, heavier to prelims, untrimmed foredge and margins of engraved plates and maps. Also some offsetting from the plates. Front inner hinge a little weak. Spine rather rubbed at edges with repaired closed tears and small areas of loss (please see photo). Also some loss to top surface of morocco at corners and rubbing and slight scuffing to boards. A Good Copy.
